Remove it from the car set it on some newspaper, get some sand paper and go to town.....after everything looks foggy, get a light coat of primer and let it dry then follow up with a light coat of your favorite color.....after that drys put another light coat on.
Replace.
Replace.

I have the same problem. Whats aircraft paint stripper. That won't strip the black off the cover, will it?

He wants a clean valve cover, not repainting it. I used some WD-40 and it got some bad spots out. I also used some engine cleaner (foamy stuff) and got a good towel and went at it. Granted, it's not brand new but sure as hell looks better than when I began.

I would try cleaning it really well with some gasoline and an old toothbrush first (with it off the car). If that doesn't work then you can also leave the factory finish and paint over it. I did this to my GSR valve cover and it looks just like the JDM Civic/Integra Type-R valve cover except the red is color-matched to my car. You just need to clean it really well and paint it with a few thin coats of flat or low-gloss black heat temp paint. If done right, you will still have the rough texture and the stock look.

Aircraft paint stripper will remove the black paint off of the cover. I used it on mine and man does that stuff burn when it touches the skin. I accidentally touched some of it and "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CRAP!" was heard for miles.

They sell the bumpy paint that comes stock on the valve cover.I cant remember where but there was a guy with a 95' Civic Si Red with like 4 fog lights in front. He was one of the first to have a Honda webpage as far as I can remember.
Anybody know what Im talking about?
