How do u guys pass emmisions with a OBD 1 swap in an OBD 2 civic?
i got a 96 civic hatch wiht a OBD 1 b16a ..... i prepared it for emissions and i am running a 96 GsR ecu , got a type R oil pump and a crank sensor on it .... i am throwing 3 engine codes .... 20 - Electrical load detector , 41 - Primary oxygen sensor heater , 65 - Secondary oxygen heater .... i am running the car on the original CX harness re-wired for obd1 parts ( distributor, alternator etc....) my O2's i had to add like a foot of a wire to make it reach .... i don't know what to do about those codes .... i need help please ... suggestions?

I get rid of code 41 by disabling the O2 heater in a chip. But then again, i only get it when i have a wideband hooked up to the car.
My 8-ball said its going to be really hard to pass emissions with your car.

Well first of all you need to get the codes off, replace the parts or what ever . But now instead of running a scan they will just roll your car and test it that way. But if you have codes comming up dont even bother going to get it done. When the swap was first done did you have the codes? or are they new?

1. If the CEL is on you fail.
2. If the emission computer scans your ECU and 2 or more readiness monitors aren't ready you fail.
You won't pass. Convert to OBD2 and get rid of all CEL's. That's the only thing that I can think of.
Even if you pass the tail pipe test you will still fail because of your engine codes.

well here is more to the story ... i failed emmisions ones already cuz i had my CTR ecu on it and their scan tool could not read it since it was from japan .... i'm from illinois and if my car is originally OBD2 they can only scan it , they won't put it on the rollers or do the sniffer test .... Anyone with the same swap pass emisions?

An OBD2 car will not pass the test without a properly functioning OBD2 system. They cannot just run the car on the dyno and do the sniffer test. It's not an option.

it is like this in delaware. obd2 cars dont even get sniffed. they get scanned for obd2 readiness and presence of codes. the dmv scanner WILL NOT communicate with an obd1 ecu nor will it communicate with a jdm obd2 ecu. it is an automatic failure.

It took me all day of searching yesterday to find this link, but you have to convert your car to an obd2 to pass emissions.
Basicly, if your car is a 96+, they will do a obd2 ecu reader test only.
If you have a jdm ecu, the computers won't talk and you'll get an error message, automatic fail.
Some people got lucky and they did the roller test after they got the ecu error.
CEL's fail automaticly.
To convert from to obd2 from a jdm motor you have to do this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=906684
Usdm is easier assuming you used an obd2 wire harness. All you would have to do is switch ecu's in that case to a usdm ecu or something close to your car. But it must be an obd2 ecu of course.
If you have an obd1 wire harness, you have to either buy a new wire harness, or convert the existing one to an obd2 harness. A new one is a lot easier.
There, this stuff is right cause I searched seriously all day yesterday for this info cause I have to convert a jdm itr to obd2 from a 97 itr.
