The easiest thing to do is get an obd1 vtec engine harness, then it will be plug and play and it will save hacking into your chassis harness. Look around ebay, craigslist, even ht marketplace should have them for under 100.

my b16a is obd2 cause of the distributor also i do have a obd1 harness off a acura. also the harness does not have the cranksensor for my b16a. what if i can get a gsr obd2 harness is that just plug and play with the gsr ecu?

ok dude. I ran into this problem when puttin a obd II h22a1 into a 94 obd I prelude.
All you need to do is... Put the acura obd I Vtec harness on the b16a. NOW, u need a OBD I distributor. The crank sensor on obdII is replaced by a seperate sensor on the inside of the obd I dist. Thats all that is needed as far as i know. I am not a b-series guy but i know this is what i had to to for my lude.
I am currently installing the same h22a1 into my 92 vx hatch with a 95 EX civic harness...lol i flipped my lude somehow.. LOL
If the Car is OBD I= obdI dist and harness needed.
the obd II DIST WILL NOT work for obd I...someone correct me if i am wrong please.

okay i understand that man. but heres what i did see i got the swap off my buddys 95 hatch si . so i took the whole harness from the car. he crashed it so he let me get everything for cheap. so what he had on his hatch was the b16a with obd2 gsr harness and also the gsr ecu. so i took everything off of it. so can't i just put it on my cx hatch. his was a hatch too. why do i need to do a different setup. man im confused.

all i can explain to you is no he didnt. you CANT NOT run a obd2 harness in a OBD1 car. OBD1 is a 2 piece harness(3 big plugs on the passenger shock tower) OBD2 is a one piece harness going straight to the ecu in the cabin. you cant not use obd1 harness with obd2 dizzy. or the other way around.
now i believe all 92s can wired for vtec right? either get a 92 engine harness. or a harness of a obd1 vtak motor....plug and play. and grab a P28. done

yeah i know cause the distributor on a obd1 has two plugs and a obd2 has one plug. but you see my guy had it like wired with the obd2 harness and a gsr ecu. so i want to know is if still have to wire the vtec to the ecu even though im using obd2 gsr harness and ecu?

you CAN NOT...CAN BLOODY NOT use an OBD2 harness in a OBD1 car. end of story.
if you do get a OBD1 harness you can rewire the obd2 dizzy to work. but it has to be a obd1 harness and ecu.
just get a harness off a OBD1 vtec. and a p28 and be done.

SORRY TO ADVISE YOU GUYS I DID THIS SWAP BEFORE THE PLUG THAT IS LEFT OPEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ARE THE WIRES FOR THE CRANK SENSOR AND THE KNOCK SENSOR SO IT CAN BE DONE JUST MAKE SURE THE ECU YOU USE IS OBD 1 P72 P28 OR P30

Re: (serio_ENDLESS)
On all 92 Civics vtec is prewired into the engine bay on a plug on the passenger side of the engine compartment, no need to run wires to the ecu.

92 is only year that all of the models were prewired. now i believe that later in the year they stopped. basically get an SI, EX, GSR, etc, OBD1 Vtec bay harness, plug in at the towers, and you're good. Just run an OBD1 Distributor. Simple.

HAHA, you are totally WRONG, you can plug up any 96-01 Integra engine harness to any 92-95 civic and it will work fine, and yes your 92 is prewired for vtec so just plug up that obd2 vtec engine harness to your car and ride out simple as that, as for the ecu, you should get a p30 for a b16 not the gsr p72

so OBD2 harnesses on integras are 2 piece like OBD1?
i know OBD2 harness (like on my 96 civic) is a one piece. and the OBD1 harness on my GSR is 2 piece.
i was unaware of the OBD2 harnesses in integras retained the 2 piece design.

Re: (1point8vtak)
yes they are two piece and they ALL plug up to 92-95 civics at the shock towers, they are nothing like 96-98 civic harness or 99-00 civic harness

Re: (Jizzmaster Zero)
nobody disputed that ALL 92's are prewired for vtec it's the people who think the obd2 integra harness (with all obd2 stuff still on the the motor) won't work that are retarded

so much disagreeing and debating... i'm interested in the answer too! *i wondering if that wire hanging in my hatch is the vtec wire...*
