How do I translate Brake depth into remaining miles
1999 Honda Civic EX
I have 3.75MM remain on Front Pads ..appx 22%
2.8 MM remain on rear brakes..apxx 40%
If I drive very little stop and go..then how many miles approximately will the brakes last and and at what percentage should the breaks be replaced..2 %, 5%, etc.
Thanks !

passing inspection for NY is 2mm on the pads....
your almost at 4mm on the fronts, so you probably got like 16-18 months of definite use. Its almost impossible to gauge. 4mm in nyc for me could be 4 weeks if you drive like a taxi.
Then again, I installed ceramic pads on my car 1 year ago and checked them last weekend and they were reading less then 1.5mm off from new...and I do alot of city stop and go...(and I put almost 40k miles on it in the last year)
To determine how long itll last you is impossible to tell. Type of pad, type of driving, etc etc all determine that, however...4mm is quite a bit of life left. Id say in a year (or when you hear squealing) change em.
The rears...you got years before you gotta worry....they dont wear much
