Default How do I take off my power steering?

I was just curious because I don't need it. My car is gonna be a straight drag car, so it's useless and takes up power.

Do I need any replacement parts when i do it?

start buy removing the belt. then drain the sytem. remove the hoses. take out the pump and the bracket. turn your whell from side to side to get ALL the p/s fluid out. and your done.

um...he's almost right.

You MUST leave some fluid in the rack to keep everything lubricated.

Most people run the RTR setup...which consists of lines and a breather coming out of the rack, so that fluid can fluctuate, to not build up any pressure and allow for easier turning

Please go search for power steering.

This has been discussed quite a few times and you'll get more information that way that any one person is going to be willing to type in this thread.

I tried running mine without the ps for a while. Got sick of it and just swapped for a manual rack. Its easier to turn than the power w/o pump and the rack itself is a good few pounds lighter.
