How do I take off the brake lines? (pics included)
 

I'm having trouble breaking apart the brake lines off. I need to remove these to make way for the new gsr rear's.

The tool I'm using is just stripping the nut away, but it's not that bad. I'm I using the right tool or what?

The tool you are using will work just fine, just make sure that you are keeping it strait on and that you are turning it the right way. LOL https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

I am but the thing keeps slipping and I dont want to strip it completly, is there another trick I can use or what? These lines have not been touch for the 170,000 miles+ it's been on the car so its not being too nice with me right now.

try using WD40 and let it sit for like 30 min before u try again.. use the nosle/straw thing to get it precisly in there..

if all else fails get a small pips wrench in there to take em off and replace the nuts with it all taken out. Hope it dosent come to that tho, pipe wrench might just losten it up for you tho without damaging em anymore then they already are

use a adjustable wrench, get it tight on there. then take the wrench off the nut and tighten the wrench a hair more... then get it on the nut and wrench away... works everytime.

i soaked it in wd40 the day before and it came right off

I had the same problem and used the same wrench you posted in the pic. Didn't work so I ended up using vice grips which got the job done.

Ya I just had a similar problem... a clutch line (which is the same concept as that)...
the 12mm just kept spreading on the nut portion of the line... I ended up getting a pair of vice grips... locking them on there real good, give a hard/fast turn and it will break loose. I put something behind to line as to brace it, you dont want to bend and kink any part of the line.

Well all day yesterday I worked on the rear disc conversion and got them on. I started at 8am and finshed them up around 5pm. So it was an all day event. Most of the time was running around in my un organized garage finding the right tool and made a trip to buy some. Overall the install went smooth but of course there was a few things that held up the process but the biggest one was breaking off the brake lines, I had to eventually use a pair if vise grips to break them off. In addition to the rear brakes I added the new bigger master cylinder and the rear suspension.

The only thing left with the brake install is the front brakes and prop valve.

I just need to make a few adjustment with the rear suspension to get it where I want it and once the front breaks are on its off to the alignment shop.

Also I did not clean up and paint the rear breaks so they dont look the greatest. Whoever had them before painted them red and did not do a good job. It does look nice though to see the disc rather than the drums in the back. I also took a bunch of pics while I was doing the install so I will gather the info and make a step-by-step on installing all of this stuff
