there is a write up on breaking lower ball joints loose, myself, i just hit the knuckle with a hammer a few times and it pops loose. u should put the nut back on so u don't damage the threads.

i need to replace the bolt not break it loose, the nut wont go on. hitting it with a hammer is what mishaped it. found out about putting the nut on it about 15 minutes after it happened.

I agree, try chasing the threads. If that doesn't work you need a new ball joint.

i did this a long time ago when i first started out. i ended up cutting the damaged section off with a hack saw, putt the nut back on and tightened it down, then drilled a hole threw the nut and ball joint. put a couter pin in and that was it. Still driving around with it, it's been 4 years.

yep its a ball jonit, may be 30 bucks for joint, but it must be pressed in and that takes special tools. Next time DO NOT HIT THE BOLT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hit the spindle whre it goes thru. Helps to put jack under the rotor, helps bust it loose(the bolt is tapered) that is why it is hard to get out.

unless you call a hammer a special tool you might be special too, all you need is a hammer to get one in or out

since the threads are fucked anyway, use a hammer and the right size socket to beat it out. if it's got a snap ring make sure you remove that first. good luck.

I did the same thing on my CRX a long time ago, never had a problem (sold the car 2-3 years after)
