Is VTEC holding a blaster? If he is, then there is a good chance that VTEC has been blasting. Better call in the stormtroopers.

vtec isnt going to "blast" if your motor is cold.

do to oil pressure(thats how vtec works), it's not going to work when it's cold. you need it to warm up to normal running tempatures.
no offense but, when the vtec kicks in your not going to notice that much of a difference on the d-series motor.

Since you missed it before, I quoted myself and put it in bold. You are not going to feel vtec with your motor. Put on a intake and you might have a chance of hearing it.

Seriously man, you wont really feel the difference with a SOHC VTEC motor. If the motor is cold, the VTEC wont engage because you need to be at closed loop in order for it to function...
so basically you need the car to be at opperating tempurature for the VTEC to start engaging. . .even though you can't feel it, its there

Firt off you're run'n on a single cam thats probably stock. You're not gonna hear or feel any vtec at all! Furthermore you said your motor was cold and no matter if its DOHC or SOHC vtec will not engage. So i end this with....
DOHC VTEC go..
BAAAaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
