How do I get these rear deck speakers out? (97 coupe)
So i'm in the process of replacing my stock speakers with aftermarket ones, and I got the front door speakers in with no problems. Now I go to the back to replace the 6x9's in the rear deck. I can see the screws holding the speaker itself in, but I can't get the dang speaker cover off. What am not seeing?

The "covers" dont just come off, unfortunately you have to either remove the entire rear deak (which is a bitch and a half) or you can remove the speakers from the trunk side. To do this you need to get a big *** pair of dykes (crimpers/wire cutters) and find the 4 white nylon things that the speaker screws into and cut them in half. Then you can push the speaker up and move it out through the bottom without ever taking off the inner rear deck. To mount the new speakers you either have to reverse the process somehow or *bottom mount* them to the rear deck using screws and clips that most speakers come with that slide over the remaining hole where the white nylon things used tobe that held in the stock speaker. Hope that gives you a starting point...
