how do i get better top end?
having a problem with my car not having enough top end speed. kinda stupid for me to care but i want to be faster on the 1/4. my problem is this, i am fast and pull on most cars off teh line until about the last bit of the qaurter mile. recently i raced on the track a similar civic with a bit of built up c1 and i had him off the line and for 90% of the race until the last 300ft when he passed me and won, then jsut this weekend i raced an rsx type s with a 55shot of nitrous and i pull on him for most of the race, at 1 point i think i was likely a good 2,3 car lengths up but again the end he started to catch up. i ended up winning by a 1 car lenght still but its really bother me to be giving up the much at the end. my set up is this 93 si (heavy bitch),b18c1, intake/exhaust, test pipe to remove cat.
my ideas are open the exhaust up a bit with a header, and i was also thinking my snail intake mani sucks (which i know it does) but will a new mani help that much on the top end? any help would be great.

Turbo=more bottom end, mid range torque.
Anyways, the IM will help you. Im sure you know Skunk2 offers a GSR single butterfly, like the type r. Basically, have you looked into a ecu tuning? It could help you out considerably. Before, I really give you any ideas for more high end let me ask you this. What are your plans for this motor? I realize you want top end, which you have lots of options, but is that all your looking for?

i knew about the singel butterfly man. honestly i havent decided on the final outcome of this motor. right now i am gathering parts to build a strong top end including cams. but as for pistons and such, i havent decided on weather i stay NA or go turbo, its a daily driver so NA is liekly the way it will go. as for ecu tuning right now i am running the shitty skunk2 generic chipped p72. that will be changed soon i hope with a hondata s200 when i have finished the big build on the motor. top end is nice but really i want a car that is strong throughout the band, sometimes easier said then done but we will see.
any advise is much apreciated

Re: (jameskersten1)
what tranny do you have? the stock gsr? if so maybe some shorter gears or a b16 tranny will make the power better used. other than that defenitely a header with 4 to 1 design to help the top end power.

read the first paragraph i wrote.
mods for now are: b18c1 with gsr tranny
intake,exhaust, test pipe, skunk2 chipped p72
i was thinking that maybe the gearing is the problem, car seems to pull hard until 4thgear then it almost falls on its face.
