I've heard you can buff them out but have never had to do it yet.

With that said, don't try to wetsand them with really fine grit paper..it looks like mega crap ( watched a friend do this and his headlights look really bad).

I think they say toothpaste because it is kind of coarse like rubbing compound.

The other guy was saying not to sand because the result is crap. Have you seen this method in "person" to know the results are good.

I have mostly heard to use buffing compound and a buffer. I haven't tried it yet but I need to do something.

yes, we sand and buff out headlights all the time. (my brother owns a body shop, if that helps) sand for deep scratches and buff out with compound. for the yellowing, just sand with high grit sandpaper and buff out. whala... good as new.

Good man! I get so tired of people posting **** without any first hand experience...

Anyway, so the procedure would be:
1. 2000 grit wet sand
2. buff
3.

I used nailpolish remover to get the yellow off mine. Looked a lot better, but still dull. Plastic polish should work.

200grit sandpaper works wonders...

also, mag wheel polish works great too. sounds wierd, but that's how some of us DSMers(with crappy yellowing headlights) have to do it...

I've done the ones on my laser with sandpaper first then went over them again with the mag wheel polish, they look brand new.
