Default How did you tighten your top strut bolt?

The self-locking damper rod nut. When I installed my struts we used an airgun. I'm thinking that was a no no. In the back the one nut is tigthened a hell of a lot more than the other. I'm going to torque them the right way by the torque specs tomorrow. Just wondering how the hell you guys tightened yours without the shaft of the strut turning with the nut?

I have aftermarket struts. The AGX struts dont have the allen hex head on the top of them. Its the damper adjuster.

Get a metric allen key/wrench set. I forgot which one.... it was 5mm or something.

The AGX struts dont have the allen key head at the top. What do I do now?

My allen key hex was completely rounded by the previous owner, the only way I was able to install the locknut was to use the airgun. Just airgun it on really quickly... I think it only needs something like 28 ft/lbs

*EDIT* I didn't have airtools, I bought one of those cheapie electric impact wrenches locally. I got it for about 40USD. You can pick one up from http://www.harborfreight.com

Here I took some pics of my setup.

SEE, no allen key head at the top of the bolt.

BTW, my dad gets harbor freight catalogs monthly. Also, he gets Northern Tools.

what I did with my agxs was use a 14mm wrench to tighten the nut down while I had a cresent wrench holding the threaded part. The threaded part has 2 smooth edges oppisite of eachother, just tighten the cresent wrench down on the smooth edges and tighten away.

Harborfreight has some good prices for stuff, $99 racing jack!

But I live in Canada, and shipping across the border really sucks. I just get my stuff from a place like Harborfreight here in Canada.

BTW What kind of springs are those?
