Default How the crap do I get ECU pins out without buying the tool?

I saw a good post not too long back, but after like 8 searches, I cannot find it.

I heard to use a pin, and stick it in somewhere..and gently pry up while pulling the wire out..

I've tried sticking the pin in every hole imaginable....and still nothing.

Can someone walk me through this?

It's really easy, you don't need a tool. If you have a flat head screwdriver (preferably small) pry open the ECU connector on the side where the wires entire the connector (side you are trying to take the pins from). The connector has a little clip on the sides, pry outwards and upwards on the top/side of the connector. Once the connector is opened up just pull the wire with the pin size you want and it should come out fairly easy. In fact, if you give me about 5 minutes, i can take pictures and post them up!

I've got the flap open...

I just pull it out now?

Eh, I'm pulling pretty hard (on a spare set in case I ruin it) and nothing is happening

Ok here you go:

Some of the pins are in there harder than others. If you have spare plugs then don't worry about ******* up 1 or 2 pins, I have messed up my fair share of wires/pins trying to do this (in fact i messed up 1 while doing these pictures for you )

sweet....thanks man

I guess it doesn't matter if I ruin these plugs anyway since all I need are the actual pins

Thanks a ton!

Don't mean to barge in on the original post, but do you know how tho get the pins out of the connectors in the engine bay harness? The connector for my vtec solinoid was accidentaly snipped, so now I have it hard wired. It works the same but I'd rahter have it the right way. Just looks cleaner IMO. Thanks.

Those are even easier...just pull. They have that small little rubber boot around the actual pin, if you pull on the wire, the pin and boot will both come out. It takes a lot less effor than the ECU pins!

I usually use a paper clip to push them out....but they can be quite stubborn at times.
