how to clean AC fan inside cab?
OK boys, so Im going to repair my AC tom. Heres what I plan on doing:
- Renting vacuum pump, get refrigerent
-repair leaky tube from condensor to accumulator
heres my questions,
is it safe to run a leak finder?
whats the best refrigerant to run to get it super cold? - i dont plan on keeping the car long, so should i go ahead and do r-12?
how do you clean the inside condensor thing, my cars a 99, im sure its dirty.
My compressor is dry, how much oil do I run?
Whats a good high/low side pressure?
Thanks for reading, any insight will be extremely helpful!

Re: how to clean AC fan inside cab?
Take it to a reputable shop and have them do it for you, That way they can run the leak detector and be responsible for any problems down the road, they will also know how much of everything to put into the system.
Getting at the evaporator (inside condenser thing) is a pain and I personally wouldn't even bother, it's prolly not as dirty as you might think. Cleaning it would involve removing it, along with your entire dashboard, not fun.

It is strongly recommended that you change the accumulator/receiver drier ANYTIME the A/C system is opened up for a leak repair.
As for cleaning the evaporator core in the dash, Just blow it out with compressed air (there will be a lot of leaves, pine needles, dust, hair, fuzz, etc. in there) so cover your front seats with bedsheets or towels first. Remove #6 in the parts view below (this is where the A/C filter would go if you had one and you can install a 97-01 CR-V one if you want).
Parts
Cabin Air Filter Parts*:
- '97-'01 CR-V / '00-'06 Insight Cabin Air Filter
--- US Honda Part No.: 80291-ST3-E01 - List: $21.98
--- EDM Honda Part No. (Civic): 80291-ST3-505 - List: $21.98
--- Bosch Part No.: P3753 - List: $19.99
- '97-'01 CR-V / '00-'06 Insight / '96-'00 EDM Civic Cabin Air Filter Frame
--- Honda Part No.: 80292-ST3-E01 - List: $13.74
* I'd recommend you purchase these parts all separately instead of as a full filter assembly. The list for the full assembly is $55.93, while the parts separately which make up the assembly cost a total of $39.25 for some reason.
