how to check intermittent check engine light (CEL)?
my car is only lightly modded and once and a while the CEL will pop on while i'm on the highway. it goes away whenever i turn the key to off.
i would connect the sevice plug and put the key to on and get the CEL to blink out the code, but the light goes away when i turb the key to off, and wont come back.
does anyone know a way to check the light with this condition?
has anyone had a intermittent CEL while on the highway?
thanks.

Bump because I was having the same problem. Get a CEL, go to check the CEL, and its gone. Every couple of times I would drive the car it would come on, turn the car off, start it up, its gone.
Now that I've installed the turbo its gone away (for now)

Thats normal, just leave the service connector plugged in. It will blink the code again... and again... and again.
If you get a CEL light and it goes away, it doesnt just disappear, it will be stored in the ecu. The code will never 'go away' until you reset the ecu (ie unplugging battery or taking out the fuse)
