Then how can I check it if there is not dipstick?

How do I drain the old fluid out? Is there a plug someplace?

What brands do you reccomend? I heard HG Manual fluid is good, but how about something like royal purple syncro mesh? Will it really smoothen out the tranny?

well a grind into theird is a sign your syncronizer rings are starting to wear out. Using a syncromesh may bandaid the problem for a while but in the end you will have to get the tranny rebuilt or purchase a different tranny. there is a fill plug and a drain plug, stick your finger into the fill plug, the fluid should be right at the hole .

Go buy a Helms manual. There are very detailed instructions, as well as pictures on how th do it, as well as what you'll need.

Oh, someone posted it already. me. GM Synchromesh will band-aid the problem for a little while. Remember that.
