Does anyone know how you can test for the spring rates of your springs without going to the manufacture?

have a 400 pound guy sit on a corner of your car, and if the spring breaks its under a 400 rate

*edit* search on the internet, its hard to find the exact spring rates but you can narrow it down.

People buy springs and the rates are never really specified, so if there is a tool or way of testing the rate it would be of great use to everyone.

Actually any manufactuer worth a damn has tested the rates for exact application and would be able to tell you. Half the time they are on the damn spring. Just may take a little converting. Not to hard. What kind of springs do you have?

This is what I was thinking. I have emailed a few companies asking about spring rates, and they always gave an answer. Also, in the instructions that came with my WS's, it lists spring rates as well....I think....its all in japanese.

spring rate is how much pressure it takes to compress (or extend) the spring 1 in.
So it's pretty hard to do unless you have a machine to do it with

NEX springs-they come in a complete coilover system. I tried locating the manufacture but I cant get a contact. The place I bought the system from does not know the spring rates but say they are similair to stock.
The brand NEX is a respectable brand, found commonly on BMW's or european cars.
If anyone knows what the spring rate is ..let me know.
