Default how can you tell what motor?

how can you tell what motor you have if its DOHC VTEC and the block's label has been scratched off? I just bought a GSR swap and the block says B1 with the rest scratched out but the head says P72...

i know its a gsr head but what about the block? is there any other ways of finding out besides taking the head off?

yep, if it was a GSR block it would say C1, B1 indicates an LS block.

Also the GSR block has a lot more external block ribbing (structural reinforcement) vs the LS block.

you should make sure the motor's not stolen and the numbers were scratched off b/c of that before worrying about it being a gsr or not

not much you can do now that the numbers are ground off... he already bought it and would only be screwing himself by telling authorities...and just because the numbers are ground off doesn't mean its hot... altough there is a good chance it is...either way you are probably stuck with it

people choose to scrub off numbers to hide what's really underneath the hood. Sometimes you can fool people pretty good.
