How can i tell when the ECU is popped?
Hi there guys, I was wondering how can I tell whether the ECU is popped or not. For some weird reason my car does not want to start in rare occasions. When it tries to crank sometimes it seems like the battery is low but it kicks in at the last minute and it starts. Sometimes when it doesnt want to start i need to boost it with another car. Sometimes nothing works, but wait a few hours. I took my baterry to Canadian Tire and they said that the battery needed to be replaced since it would not hold the charge for long time. I thought this was the problem, but then i dont understand why yeaterday even trying to boost it with my friends car it didnt start. I dont want to take it to the mechanic kuz i know if I wait for a couple of hours it will start. So they will prbly rip me off and say the fixed it. I did it once and thats why they said. Then I found out that just leaving it sit for hours fix it.
This weekend im going to check for spark and fuel, which should be good since it starts most of the time. This problem just happens once every two weeks, approximately. Whenever it starts after me trying to start it for a while and sitting, i can here the engine chocked with so much gas for like 3 seconds, which in my opinion makes me think that gas is not the issue.
I read somewhere to get the codes from the ECU, but i thought i could just get them when the CEL is on. If not then I stupid kuz i should have tried that long ago.
Can you guys help me out here pls. I tried giving as much information as possible, winter is coming and this is gonna suck if i dont fix it promptly.
Thank you.
