how to add daytime running lights (nailed by cops)
Hey guys I was driving home and went through a little road block and a cop decided he was going to take a crap on my face.
My car is a 1993 civic si with a b16 swap, carbon fiber hood, nice little car. But I guess this guy was a total *** because he picked apart my car. The only thing he could get me on was that I did not have daytime running lights and I needed a new windshield. Just for that he took my car off the road and now it needs to go through the whole inspection process.... I even told the guy im in school right now trying to rebuild my life and I am crazy broke, but he was a super ***.
first thing I need to do is add daytime running lights.
My car has custom headlights and The previous owner wired them without day time running lights.
Im just wondering what do I have to do to add low beams on at all times when I turn the car on and off when its off.
I tried searching but could not really find what I was looking for.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks guys.

Re: how to add daytime running lights (nailed by cops)
bud he can't make you ADD daytime running lights if your car didn't come with them originally, which it did not in 93. (maybe in canada they did? don't know where you're from)
In fact (again don't know where you are from or the laws if you are from canada) but DRL's are in no way mandatory even on vehicles originally equipped.
They will fail state inspection if one is out, but if they are removed it is a non-issue.

In Canada any car or truck from 1991 to now have to have DRL ..... just cause of the fact that it makes youre car more visible during the day time......and i know that on my 95 coupe its my high beams wired trough a resistor and as soon as i put down the hand brake they come on.....there dimmer then low beams.....

Is OP in Canada?
I've never heard of a regulation in a US state that *requires* you to retrofit a car with DRLs that didn't come with them from the factory. I think the cop might have been misinformed or blowing smoke.

you can buy a kit at any local auto parts store for drl and wire it into your highbeams.or just wire your park lights to the ignition so they come on 24/7. its a bs law and when most newer cars have drls that dont work they don't get bothered around here.

yeah every car sold in Canada after 1991 has DRL from factory.....they claim its for safety witch i can see the difference cause on coming traffic is allot easier to see with the DRL.....i know it sounds weird but you see cars coming from farther away.

For the record all new vehicles to be sold in Canada manufactured after Jan 1/90 require DRLs, but most provinces don't require that you have them. Nova Scotia does, but its the only province i'm aware that actually legally requires them
Just pull the wiring you need off another '92 - '95 civic at the junkyard.

^^ The Yukon requires them.
To the OP: Find a 92-95 Civic in the wreckers and pull the DRL wiring off. Get out your Helms service manual to see what you need. Don't know what the original owner did to bypass the system, but he can't have done too much. You probably just need a couple of things.
