I've been driving around on low gas all night, and I had about a 12mi drive home tonight. I tried to stretch it so I could fill up at Mobil instead of Shell, and pulling onto the onramp of the highway in 4th, I got a CEL. The CEL stayed there the whole drive home.

I cut the car off and back on and it disappeared, and filled up my tank as well.

Could driving around with low gas activate a CEL? Its not there anymore, so I don't know how to pull it. Can I check the stored CEL's myself?
