hot wire

hot wire
im hookin up a lil red light to my VTEC solenoid to light up when VTEC hits. i know it sounds stupid but i just wanna do it for fun HA HA HA what wire am i lookin for on the solenoid, if im not mistaken its a green and yellow that is the hot wire not sure. if it helps its a D16y8 from a 00' civic if anybody knows please help thanks

There will be two wires coming off the LED...wire one to the frame around the cluster (ground), and the other to pin B12 coming off of the ECU (VTC)

or you can just go under your hood, locate your vtec solenoid, splie into the black wire that comes directly off of the vtec solenoid, and wire it to the led, that will be the positive wire, then just take another wire and ground it to the body of the car or at any ground you can find, and thats it.....

well, after adding a led here or there to my computer, i can tell you that a non-12v led on a 12v source does one of two things.
glows really bright for a second, and then turns brown, and starts smoking and smells bad
