Horror story
I recentley had some yokohama avid h4's (205/40/16) mounted on my alt seven wheels. Went to pickup my car and look at my wheels in horror! three of my wheels had huge chunks out of the finish. I went inside and asked wtf was wrong with them and they said I had "Junk" wheels. Think they are pullin 1 over me saying thier machine didnt do it or are my wheels really junk? I think ALT wheels are a good brand and this is the second set of tires installe don them and the previous install didnt chunk hte heck out of them.

Burn it down and **** on the ashes! That kind of **** pisses me off more than anything. My friend brought his car in and his 18's were scraped to hell when they used an oversized lugwrench to take off his bolts. They didn't do anything for him either. That really sucks!

dude that's BS.....i worked at Discount Tire Co. for 3 years, and TRUST me, whoever tried to mount the tires didnt know what the hell they were doing....ask them if they used "rubber booties" on the mounting clamps to protect it.....good luck, and YES that is BS becuase if they charged you to mount them, they should have mounted them RIGHT without damaging the wheel goodluck

In the shop's defense- it's just cosmetic, and those are really low profile tires. Ever try to mount tires that size? It's ******* HARD. I mean two people sweating and using all their weight to get those sons of bitches over the rim. Did you go to a tire place that has a bunch of passenger tires laying around, and one whom predominantly deals with said passenger tires? Mounting a 70 series tire doesn't require the skill, technique, or special equipment that mounting a 40 series does.
Unless the wheel is structurally damaged, or you paid over $15 per tire to have 'em mounted, I'd chalk it up to experience and next time find a shop that has the equipment and skill to mount low profile tires.
And FWIW, ALT wheels are right up there with Primax and American Racing as far as quality goes. But hey, I'm sure they look nice.

They did it man. I had gone to a tire shop here, and the bent all four of my wheels! im mean actually bent the lip on the wheels, of course their insurance doesnt cover it, so my insurance bought me some new wheels, but needless to say it sucks and i am sorry for you...try to get the money from them!

Dont they need a special machine to put on low performance tires? I mean one time i went around looking for a cheaper place to mount my tires and not everybody was able to do it beacuse they said they didnt have the machine to do it....
ps this was back when i had on 17's now 15" owns me!

As for suing the shop... you're going to waste their time over a few paint chips? How much did you pay for the wheels? How much did you pay for the mounting? Just get some touch up paint and suck it up. Christ, it's not like they rendered the wheels unusable.

i'd suggest sanding down that one part (maybe a 400grit) down really nice (provided those are painted aluminum/alloy wheels) and just touch it up nicely with silver touch up paint....

Re: Horror story (SpoonFedHatch)
ok drop the fact they are poop rims....
its still the principle that the shop can just put blame on the rim for their lack of skills...
guess what...now you know where NOT to go... learned the hard way but you will never forget that info now will ya.

Re: Horror story (tim anto)
well, if you signed the papers to take the car, the shop has no responsabilty. once its out th door its your prollem. i gurantee there were no rubber booties used. installer error is what it is but theres nuthin you can do about it now.
edit: those wheels are bunk. it looks to me like the powder coat was bubbled. thats why it cracked off. those look more like bubbled paint chips than chunks of paint eaten off.

back to the point, have the shop compensate you somehow.. get your money back atleast.. what shop was it?? a national chain or some smaller shop?
