Default HORRIBLE Hopping

Recently my car has had a HORRIBLE hopping / shaking to it, low end. Like when starting off in 1st, or when driving in reverse.

This is a d16z6 in my si. I swapped this motor in. Correctly I dont have the front mounts, the one that bolts into the block / tranny. Would this cause this horrible hopping? I heard they werent required. So I didnt bother putting them in, since they were in bad condition.

Is this hopping from not having those mounts? or just slopped out stock mounts?

Thanks Alot
-Cody

You have to describe the problem your having a little better.. what exactly do you mean by hopping? Saying you "swapped this motor in correctly" and "not having the front mounts" dont belong in the same sentence. I believe your talking about the torque mounts, most ppl dont run them when they swap in B series. Im guessing you dont have AC either? You can pretty much kiss the other mounts goodbye as this will cause the other ones to wear prematurely..

yeah, but it's usually the first couple minutes of driving. after the first 5 minutes or so of drving, it goes away for the most part? mines been doing it for 2 years. does it the worst when it's cold outside.

ahhh....either a bad mount or REALLY bad clutch chatter. grab your engine and see if you can shake it.

Most likely you trashed the other mounts from not running the front ones. Yes, they are required for longevity of the rest.

This would happen in all gears, not just starting.

It's the mounts and displays every symptom of it.

# 1 Put the torque mounts back in. # 2 Then check out the other mounts to see which ones are torn or worn out and replace as needed.

Ok, does any one know where I can get all 5 mounts in poly? Looking for something cheap, maybe just inserts, I will only have this car for another 7ish months before I leave for the service.

Thanks to everyone whos replied / and or viewed

Any other suggestions? I know you can "make" your own mounts.. just kinda skeptical about it

Thanks Again

Full time student.. still in highschool, and only work weekends to try and pay insurance.. Im just kind of reluctant to sink any more money than needed into my car.

You act like money grows on trees. Must be nice
