Horrible Grind...WTF!
Ok so I just got my 94 del sol Vtec, and the kid who had it before me had a blown distributor, but he thought the engine was blown so he sold it for super cheap and I had my uncle look it over and replace the distributor...It runs like a champ, but I can't race ANYONE because of my damned transmission. Its got a short shifter and a racing clutch thats adjusted to grab riiiight at the very bottom, but if I am anywhere past 5000rpms and I try to upshift it grinds horribly, so I can't even get to feel the power of the vtec.
Does anyone know what my problem is? I think it might be the synchros going out but I don't know anything about transmission.

if the clutch is grabbing at the very bottom than your clutch is probally going out cause 92 and newer hondas (most honda's) are hydraulic which they are not adjustable. so if the peadal is on the floor and your rapping it out than the cutch is probally fighting to engage properlly. your pedal should be at the top. a perfect working clutch should have like 1-2 inches of freeplay before engages.

You want your clutch to grab towards the top of its travel, not only will this prevent parts from clashing accidentally, but it will also help in your shifting because you wont have to push as far, just my .02 on that. I would adjust your clutch pedal so that its not on the floor, it should be making contact after an inch of pressing it.
Try to match the RPM of the gear you are going into. (IE if you are in 4th going for third, and your RPM is say... 4000rpm, raise the RPM so it is near where the RPM will be in 3rd.) If it goes in easier, or doesn't grind at all, synchro is worn.
It's kinda odd to hear of a transmission where all of the synchro's are failing at the same time. But it could be plausible if it was beat to hell. Full throttle shifts will wear them out very quickly.

listen to slowcivic2k! cause if it is cable then your lucky cause you can adjust it out and possibly not a bad clutch but dosent it make more sense to have it at the top were you can quick shift? just asking cause it makes more sense to me.
