Re: itr headers vs tri y
I'm sure even the replica hytech header would be better than ITR header.
Edit: Collector size is what really makes the big change in capability in a header.

tri y i guess. the ITR header would be a waste in comparison to most headers.

The best choice it´s the headers from hytech, those from ITR works nice on the stock engine.

remember with ebay you get what you pay for. The hytech tri-y has been proven to make good power on the b16, its not much more then the ebay special

If you want a cheap tri-y header get one of the ones in the sponsor marketplace. They're more expensive but I bet they're more trustworthy.

The 4-1 style headers don't benefit from scavenging, but their long runners allow the motor to make good top end.
Tri Y headers use scavenging from paired cylinders to pull exhaust gases out and typically these have good midrange power, but sacrifice a little top end.
The Hytech Tri Y is a hybrid of the two. It has long stepped primaries which allows good top end, and the steps somewhat help by causing waves to bounce back out instead of back into the exhaust ports. But they also have the two Ys, which helps with scavenging.
I'm sure others make good power, but something using a similar design to the Hytech would definitely be good.
Stay away from the eBay knockoff of the Hytech if you can afford the real thing. It's a pain to get together since it's two pieces and when they weld these little tubes on for bolts to hold it together, it constricts the pipes. The only solution is expanding or compressing one or cutting slits in it. Also they use cheap stainless. It's fine if you don't mind a little hassle putting it together, and for the price it's definitely better than a DC or something.
