Locks are easy. Windows are not so easy. You should pull power windows from a car that had them instead of rigging in some power window kit. It will only leave you disappointed with the sporadic results it will give.

quick question... alittle ot, can you install keyless entry into a car with manual locks.
im not sure about the window install but free bump for you.

edit: im pretty sure the wires all are there on a car that is all manual so the power window/lock install will probibly be plug and play.

Yes, you have to add door lock actuators to physically move the door locks. Reputable shops do this for about $65-75 per door, not including the installation charge of the Keyless Entry Unit.

Whoa... ok. Let me clear up all the confusion on this matter as I'm in the middle of this install in my 99 EK. I got basically everything out of a pair of 00 Si doors (power window regulators, door lock solenoids, wiring harnesses). That's pretty much all you need to get your doors ready for it. The only problem is that the door harnesses have no where to plug into as they exit the doors. Any 96-00 civic that didn't come with power windows doesn't have the correct harness behind the dash for the door harnesses to plug into.
I went and pulled the entire dash harness from another wrecked 2000 Si at a local junkyard, including fuse box and pretty much everything for $125. That thing is huge and it was a bitch to pull, and I expect it to be even more difficult to install in my EK (replacing my current non-power window harness).

If you want to ghetto rig it, I'm sure it's possible but don't hook things directly up to power, 'cause you're supposed to use relays so as not to burn the window regulator motors out.

My way will give you OEM functionality and general freshness and cleanness for power windows, locks, mirrors, and tweets.

Good luck!

msg YUMVtec He's the one who did the above! If you need any more info, and I can help you out some to the best of my knowledge. For wiring diagrams, GET YOUR HELMS!

I replied, and no, all civic were never pre-wired for the power accessories options(from all that I've read).

yes and no. your going from 98 to 99-00. This can be a problem.. THe climate controls are now different. So if you get a 99 harness your gonna need to change out your engine harness too.. This becomes a pain.. My suggestion is to get 96-98 ex main harness and SI or any power door lock and window assembly...

Good luck

Sorry to nitpick, but realys have nothing to do with burning window motors out. Reallys are just switches that allow your low current capacity switch (window switch) to operate and control a circuit that is high current (power window motors). They wont keep you from burning anything up. Just wanted to clarify so nobody thought that *just* because there was a really in the circuit that they were safe from a ***** up. Fuses or circuit breakers are for the safety aspect.

Thanks
