Hey, I was wonderin if Hood Pins were really necessary after installing carbon fiber hoods? Some ppl have their horror stories about the hood poppin up an dsmashin their windows while driving! ...while others say its not necessary. Whats your 2 cents?

One of my friends just had a carbon fiber hood installed and several weeks later it flew up while driving and smashed the windshield, thank god he was only doing ~30mph

I wouldn't drive my car without them installed. Better safe than sorry. It's a small investment that could prevent a serious accident later on.

Default let a shop install them

I installed mind I really didnt know how to find the proper spots in the bottom of the hood to drill but i would also recomend some sparco pins or the honda locks like at jdm hondaparts.com because it can get messy.

do you need pins even if the hoods come with the honda latches as standard? if so is the drilling difficult, does the carbon flake or split?
i am looking to import a hood to the u.k. for my civic hatch as nobody has them over here yet!!

even with the stock latch on the hood, the sides of the carbon fiber hood (next to the fenders) will start to pull up on the freeway. i would highly reccommend using the sparco hood pins. i use them and they work great. i would also reccommend taking it to a professional shop to do the install, if they were to mess the hood up they would have to get u a new hood. hope this helps
