Hey yo Ive been rockin a cf hood with no pins and I havent had any problems, but I have also heard stories, so you might want to get some just to be safe. What kind of hood do you plan on getting?

I paid $20 for my OBX pins. They work great.

At first I installed some APC hood pins. But I just couldn't stand having an APC part on my car, even if they were just hood pins. So I picked up a set of Sparco pins and they work just fine.

They keep wind from lifting your hood up and smashing your windshield, denting your roof, and scaring the crap out of you while driving.

Hoods other than the factory steel hoods are a bit more flexable. Which causes a problem of catching air pressure near the coners (near the headlights). Hood pins help hold the corners down while to help prevent the corners from raising.
I'd never run any aftermarket hood with out pins.

i have been running a cf hood without pins for about 6 months, runs up to 120mph many times, i could be lucky though. i see the sides of the hood going up and down and i want to get some pins soon because the movement scares me. why not just get some OBX or APC pins, they ARE just pins, and unless you say anything noone will know. some people are so fussy!

He had APC hood pins (which of course i ragged on him for) On his jetta for approx. 6 months before one BENT AND POPPED OFF. Yes they were installed right and yes a $450 hood was destroyed. By the way i have sparco ones, and compared them to his apc pins. I'm a scrawny white kid who can bend apc hood pins like angel hair pasta. THEY ARE NOT JUST FOR LOOKS!!! THEY HOLD YOUR HOOD DOWN ON HIGHWAYS AND TRACKS! Don't be stingy when it comes to safety.
