start off with the smallest drill bit you can, then work your way up to avoid it cracking and spidering

Just make sure you measure three or four time sbefore you drill.

What I did was install the pins on the rad support and put a little grease on the tips. Then lower your hood onto the pins so that the grease makes a mark on the underside of the hood. Thats where you drill.

start out buy using a spot drill. It come to a point whereas drills have a small flat. That small flat sometimes causes the drill to "walk". I like using spot drill to make a little "spot" so that the drill I use after it has something to follow. If you don't have a spot drill use the smallest drill you have becasue it will have the smallest flat with less likelyhood of "walking". Not sure if it would help much for the CF but on metal it helps a lot.

we used a dremel tool on my hood to drill the holes, worked very well but time consuming. good luck, i hated doing it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

i would put tape on both sides first, then mark the tape. this way you won't walk it and hopefully avoid spidering. also drill from the back to the front, if you drill on the top first it will def. spider!! don't wanna damage that hood, take every precaution!!

yes definitly go from underneath, drilling from the top will most definitly crack the clearcoat https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif but unfortunally its going to spider crack eventually no matter what https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

make sure you put something on the oppostie side of the hood from where you are drilling (I.E. a piece of plywood) the first few layers of CF will not be the ones to crack, it's the last two or so that will (as there is no pressure on them and the laminate comes undone from the pressure of the drill bit). do it that way and I assure you i will not crack

I out clay on the little pin things and gently put the hood down and lifted it up and the clay stuck to the hood marking the spots for the holes. I wouldn't suggest using a normal drill bit unless you are extremely extremely careful. I used a dremel tool so I wouldn't crack the hood. It took a while but it was worth the wait. You could also use a fiber glass bit, but those are pretty pricey.

Re: (96ej805)

When my friend helped me do mine, we used white out on top of the hood pins and it showed up really well on the black hood and that is where he drilled.
Good luck man!
