hey guys , my vehicle has been in a series of unfortunate events (no stupid movie pun intended) involving my hood flying up and smashing my windshield @ the same time blinding me at 60 mph, and i really dont trust my hood latch so i'm looking for a new one but no one makes them for my car. everytime i go to the junk yard all the civics have been hit really fu$#ing hard in the front if there even is any 92-95 civics, there never are any EK's period.

ANYWAYS,i know that the radiator supports for EK's and EG's are obviously different but i thought that maybe the latch goes on the same, after all its just a little latch mechanism, so i was wondering if you guys know if the latch off a 96-2000 would work on my 'EG since i found one off ebay and i'd rather not spend a bajilllion dollars (thats right i said bajillion) on a hood latch from the dealership.

I had the same problem on my winter EG-6. Same speed on the highway and no one told me when I bought it that the latch was rusted open. Yeah, same thing happened. I did shitty hoodpins and then I found a latch in a junkyard! It looks the same as the one Im holding right now. Except for the hook on the latch. The EK one looks a little different.

That one looks EXACTLY like the one on my EG.. I'm not sure if it'll work or not though.

How much do they want for it? Cant you find any EGs with the latch in the junkyard? I did, I had to drive 1.5 hours though.

its 20 bucks plus some shipping, but the problem with my junkyard is that there are RARELY any civics there. everything is like 91 and below. if there are any civics then they are 4 doors like mine and they are usually demolished or hit REALLY fu#$ing hard in the FRONT which is where i need my parts from. that junkyard sucks *****, all my friends say they get crap from it all the time but everytime i go there is nothing. and only EG's will be there, you will never find a EK in your lifetime at that junkyard....i think i might just buy the thing and see if it works and if it doesn't sell it for twice what i payed since its so uncommon

I looked at my friends ek hood latch. The only difference is the metal hook is a little differently shaped. I think it should work, since the piece that is slightly larger goes into a hole made for the latch. The metal piece above the hook is what is different not the latch itself. Go for it!
