Hood Latch Part # Question
Hey,
I need a new hood latch for my Civic ('97 EX Coupe) (EJ8).
The problem is that the primary latch isn't staying closed, after the hood clicks down you can pop it back up onto the secondary latch. Also, there's a crack in the side of it which probably is leading to flexing. Regardless, I can't close my hood.
So I was looking for a replacement hood latch, and all of them have this picture:
Problem is, all of them sell 5 - that's the latch mechanism itself. But none of them seem to have info on diagram #'s 24 nor 25? So what exactly is #25? Is that the secondary latch?
So all in all - what is part #5 (Honda part # 74120-S01-A03)? Is that the latch + the secondary latch lever? If so, what is that extra piece in the diagram?
Thanks for your time, much appreciated!

Re: Hood Latch Part # Question
Since parts #24 and #25 are not listed for your car, it most likely does not have part #25. You can call Majestic Honda to verify.
Part #5 is the latch itself.
In the meantime, you might try screwing the right and left rubber hood cushions (part #10) downward (looser) to see whether this helps to keep the hood from popping up.

I don't even think I have the rubber stoppers on mine, actually. Got into an accident 2 winters ago, and I don't think they were replaced.
Okay, fair enough.
My dad was ironically nice enough to buy me one from the H dealership, so I can put it on today before I go back to Roc . I don't really mind if I don't get it in the next few days before the 250mi trip back up to Roc, but before I go 2900mi out to Cali...kinda want my hood to shut lol. That secondary latch isn't going to last.
I'll put the new one on, and if I don't have them, I'll buy the rubber stoppers, I completely forgot about them.
