Hondata vs. safc
 

is Hondata alot better tuning wise than an apexi safc? I would get a Hondata s200 unit if i get hondata.

well hondata is NOT A PIGGY BACK unlike safc which "tricks" your ecu plus the tuning capabilites are endless with hondata so yes hondata is better x 10^10

you can but whats the point, the reason your gettin the hondata is to tune it correct? if your gonna spend the money on it spend the money to get it dyno tuned

No, but you should'nt be using an AFC without dyno time either.

Depending on your application an AFC may be better for you. It is less expensive, and unless you need the timing adjustments that are available with the Hondata and not the AFC, your wasting your money on the Hondata. Also, keep in mind you have to have a decent tuner in your area of your just screwing yourself in the end.

Hondat is 10 X's better than a safc. On safc you add fuel it automatically takes away timing. Stupid design in my opinion. Just tune the hondata https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

First question....there is no comparison. Hondata is A LOT better than a lowly AFC.

Second questions....you can, but it would probably be worse than your stock ECU. You will have a base program, which most probably isn't tuned for your application. The reason to have a Hondata is to tune it. Just plugging it in your car won't really do anything. It could be the same, be worse, or be better. No one knows.

looking for opinions on both i do have both of these motors both in different cars and. was wondering how much of an improvement would each one be and what one will work better with which.. U no help me out if u have any info. or opinions or even if u wana burn me for asking about it.

The improvements are going to depend on your tuner. If they're just a mostly stock motor, save your money and go with the AFCs. You don't really need the adjustability of the timing until you have SERIOUS upgrades on a N/A motor or a FI motor that is making a lot of power. Also, most tuners are much more comfortable with an AFC than Hondata.

s-vafc is alot cheaper than hondata, i looked it up. Im just going to go with vafc for now, hodata is way way way out of my price range.

See keywords in that sentence is for now. Depending on your setup a AFC MAY be more beneficial/economical/etc BUT what are your end goals. Why pay $180-$300 for a new or used VAFC, to turn around and sell it later for maybe 60-75% of what you payed for it and turn around and buy a hondata. IF you can live without either, save up to get Hondata if it will eventually better suit your needs.

By that theory, I should have never bought a Civic. The REAL car I wanted was a Corvete, so I should just save for one, because I can't sell my Civic for what I payed for it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

An AFC will cover 90% of the people on this boards tuning needs just fine. No need to pay 400+ dollars for Hondata when it's overkill.

Well what I was saying was if he thinks he will eventually need a Hondata, why buy a VAFC first?? I dont know what his goals are and he may or may not outgrow the afc. if he may outgrow and can forsee himself buying a hondata, then buy the other product from the get go.
