hondata manifold gasket
Some one once told me that the hondata intake manifold gasket sometimes throw a check engin light for like the map sensor or some **** like that. Is this true or a myth? If it's true please tell me why and what u can do to not have it happen.

Re: hondata manifold gasket (96cpe)
I'd have to go with myth. All it does is keep your intake manifold from getting heatsoaked. It in no way even touches your MAP sensor.

myth. ive had one for 7 months and the only code i get is for oxygen sensor, and thats my own damn fault and no way related to the gasket

I don't think it will net you any real "gains" per se, but rather prevent heatsoak from the head into the intake mani. This will net cooler intake charges and more power.

im questioning that in a way! i dont have figures to base it on but it lowers intake temp and by lowering the temp it will have denser air. thus producing power! it might not be no 15HP jump but its something.
i had a friend who monitored it and he saw a 30% decrease in temp! so let that speak for itself

Yeah. That's what I was trying to say in my own convoluted way.

very confused.....
I don't post here regularly but read a hell of a lot..... you guys in the states got it made with so many honda tuners
ok onto the topic......here is my point of view on the Hondata IM gasket....... what I don't understand is how this can actually work. Is there not coolant circulating through the IM?? Would this not heat the IM up also?
So what I am pretty much trying to say/ask is that for the Hondata IM gasket to work... would you not also need to block off the coolant from going through the IM??
Food for thought....

I think they gasket prevents the heat from the head itself. The radiator helps keep the coolant down, but the gasket is there to keep the intake manifold itself cool (cooler than the stock paper gasket pressed against the head).
Where the hondata one is much thicker than the stock one, it keeps the temp down just that much more.

It keeps the HOT HOT HOT head from heat soaking it cooland only passes through the mani in one spot on the flange not enough coverage for total heatsoaking, in a perfect world you would not want this but that is how it is desinged oh well, the head right above where combustion accurs will get hotter than the watter that is constantly moving through a radiator so the coolant is no where near as hot as the head you give and take with things like this and it is proven to work.
