Honda Techs: Trans knocking
I have a 2000 em1 still with the oem b16a2 and s4c w/o lsd trans. I have noticed knocking what sounds like around the flywheel area inside the trans. It gets quicker with the engine revs, and will fade out when you disengage the clutch and come right back when you engage it. I can't tell too much if it does from inside the car when driving, but I'm sure it would. I have also always had a squeaking like something was loose since I got this thing a couple years ago now. I noticed today when I hold the bar the slave cylinder pushes against it stops the squeak, and I can feel the knocking in the bar as well as see it shaking more than normal. After a little research I found a good possibility on honda-tech as to what it might be. https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/your-transmission-knocking-when-you-idle-loud-i-fixed-mine-pics-parts-1999434/ The main shaft bearing. I saw one other site that specifically talked about a knocking in a honda trans and it said the exact same thing. So my question is, does this sound familiar to anyone? Sound like I'm on the right track before I go and pull my trans and pull it apart? Any suggestions when doing it? Thanks in advance guys, Mike.

Re: Honda Techs: Trans knocking
Oil was pretty recently replaced with gm synchromesh. The oil that came out looked great. Throw out will be replaced of course if have to pull the trans.
