Honda surging idle..FITV cleaned
so heres my story..my 1995 honda civic ex idles roughly at cold temperatures..i recently changed the battery, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor too as one morning she did not want to fire up..it was a cold morning.
now since it was idling bad, also getting shitty gas mileage, read some threads and found problems with FITV and idle air valve were major culprits, so took them apart (FITV) completely cleaned them put it back together no results yet found..also cleaned the idle air valve..
now the car revs up and down at cold starts until it gets warmed up..and comments..where should i look for other culprtis?? main relay??? intake gaskets?? anyone else has a problem like mine??
also i live in MN so it gets pretty cold up here..i just dont wanna be estranded by the car not starting up as it did a few times already..please help..desperately..

Re: Honda surging idle..FITV cleaned
You might just have some air in the coolant lines causing the surging idle. Bleed the cooling system first, it's the easiest thing to do.

Had the same problem on my B16a2
Switched the IAC, cleaned it and replaced the coolant but still didn't fix it
But my dad took it to a mechanic and he switched the "injector gasket" (that's what i understood) and now it idles fine

To re-learn the ECU, disconnect the batter for about 30 secs. Reconnect it then start the engine. Let the engine idle with no load (do not press the throttle; turn off the a/c and/or heater; turn off all interior and exterior lights; turn of the radio. When the raditor fans cycle twice then it is safe to assume that the ecu has learned the proper idle.
