Default honda oversized pistons

does anyone know if the honda oversized pistons (0.050") available for the d16y8 are any good. or would they just be a waste of money. i know they have them, i just didnt know how they would work. i have a block, and i was going to bore it out so they would fit. also i was gonna deck the head. anybody have an idea of this being worth my time or more importantly money. thanx

bigger the bore = more the displacement = more torque = more power.

What are you trying to do? build a all motor motor, build a force induction motor? If you getting new pistons and getting a rehone, you might as well go oversize, but if your doing this out of the blue, I think its silly, since you have a d16y8, it can't have like 200,000 miles on it or anything.

no, i was going all motor. i have a 98 dx hatch. but i had a d16y8 short block given to me cuz the pistons were slapping (i used to work at an acura dealership and i basically took the the short block with a little help from the warranty department). so i thought that i would bore out the block to make the 0.050" oversized pistons (from honda) fit. i just was wondering if anyone else had tried these pistons.

OK, I hope you didn't steal the shortblock.

Tried what pistons? What pistons are you talking about?

Are you asking if people bore their motors? Yes, that is why it exist.

If you go all motor, I wouldn't get the P2P pistons from the d16y8. I'd get the d16a1 pistons, either the PG6B from 1986-87 Integra, or P29 pistons from 1987-88 Integra.

I would examine to see if the short block condition is fairly good, if it is then dont bore it, just get a rehone. There is no downside to boring it out a little to fit the oversized oem pistons except thinner cylinder walls (probably won't affect you much because your going all motor), the cost of the bore and hone job. And if you don't oversize it now, you still over chances to oversize it later when you actually need to when you break something or score up the wall rear bad in your next build. (Obviously since you only have so much material to bore out).
