Default Honda Oil filters the best? And what oil?

I am about the change the oil in my girlfriends newly bought 2000 Civic EX and am wondering if I should buy only Honda oil filters? Are they the better than the other off the shelf at the autoparts place, Fram, STP, etc...

Also with the car having 119,000 miles should I stick with the 5w30 oil that the manual recommends or go with 10w30 or higher? I always use Castrol.

Thanks

Joe

stick with honda filters they are only a few dollars more as for oil castrol if fine 5-30/ 10-30. if you live in real cold climate you might use 5-20 in winter the key to oil is to change it and filter every 2500 -3000 miles

if your not burning/losing oil stick with 5-30, filters are personal choice, I think the honda ones with the exception of the s2000 are made by fram

Wix is the only replacement filter id buy for factory replacement, 5w30 is good for what you need too

I heard a rumor that fram filters will clog your oil passages if you go too far beyond the 3000 mile mark. The dealership I work at now had to replace 2 engines so far and sent fram the bill. I think it had something to do with using a cardboard part instead of tin (like they used to) in order to make the filters more cost-effective. The cardboard breaks down and gets sucked into the engine, creating a blockage. ...then again, the engines that blocked up were Ford's...

Go to the dealership and get a s2000 filter. Best filter you can buy for your car. Also for oil just use castrol. Good stuff
