Default Honda Gsr Ecu Help!!!!!

I just recently swaped a B18c GSR into my '96 civic ex coupe and the ecu they sent with the B18 does not plug up to my wiring harness from my civic and the stock was used for now....until tropical storm fay stalled out my civic and burned up my P2P. Now i need a new ecu (OBD1 or OBD2) but if i can i want to use the gsr ecu if it is possible to get it to plug in (without changing my wire harness) i need it badly! Anyone know what i could do?

Figure out what OBD the ecu is and buy the correct conversion harness. It will either be OBD2A to OBD1 or OBD2A to OBD2B. When you find out the OBD, you might want to make sure it doesn't have an immobilizer in it. I believe USDM OBD2B P72's have immobilizers, not too sure about the OBD2A's or the JDM ones (maybe someone else can chime in with specifics when you figure out the OBD).

I can't really see the plugs on the ECU very well, but comparing to pictures it really doesn't look like either OBD2A or B. What it does look like is A JDM automatic OBD1 ECU. see the following link http://technet.ff-squad.com/wiring.obd1.htm What you'll need to do there is get an OBD1 to OBD2A adapter harness. this will let you plug in 3 plugs, but there are no automatic conversion harnesses that i'm aware of and so far as i'm aware no one has the pinouts for plug "C". This leaves you kinda screwed. You might have to call an importer and get an OBD2A JDM automatic GS-R ecu, again i think you're going to be pretty much screwed for wiring up the TCM for the automatic tranny though.

All four plug-in's have pins and im confused about whether it is an OBD2a or b....Here are the pins going from left to right.

Im wondering if i could go with a P28 (possibly chipped) with a conversion harness but the thing is that there for 5 speeds.

Again, i don't think its either, it looks like OBD1, JDM automatic, they have 4 plugs, USDM OBD1 ECUs, even automatics only have 3 plugs.

I highly doubt it, you have to realize that hardly anyone has ever done this swap, partly because its very hard to pull off. Heres a question for you, did the importer send you a TCM with your swap?

No......but the only reason i went with a/t is becuase the autos were alot cheaper but if i could get rid of the gsr tranny (along with the D16y8 engine and tranny) id convert to 5 speed.

So far as i know you need that TCM, its JDM only too, the US never recieved an automatic GS-R, only the LS so far as i know possibly the GS and RS too, but definately not the GS-R. Even at that there isn't much info on the wiring, Most times i've heard of someone trying this they give up and swap in a 5 speed, which is belive it or not a lot easier. All the holes are already drilled and threaded. you can use OEM mounts, if your doing an engine swap anyway it really doesn't add much more to it. As for selling your D16Y8, that should sell pretty easily, especially if it hasn't been beat on too bad and isn't burning oil or coolant. The automatic GS-R tranny though, i don't know if you'll ever be able to sell that, the market just isn't there. And yes GS-R manual trannies are expensive, You could always pick up an LS tranny for now though, its geared kinda long, but i'd still take that over an automatic GS-R tranny any day.
