Default Honda DW1 ATF in my EG?!

So I went to the dealership today to order a few parts for my 93 Civic DX and also pick up some Dexron II. The guy at the parts counter told me they had discontinued Honda Dexron II and switched everything over to DW1, which he claimed was backwards compatible. He also said the formula was very similar, it was just able to withstand higher operating temperatures. Anybody heard of this? I've got the DW1 sitting out in my garage, but I'm kind of hesitant to use it. Is anybody else running this in their EG?

Use it, you don't have any other choice unless you find left over Z1. I use it in my EJ8 and all is good. It's backwards compatable as he stated. I'd do a 3x3 drain/fill if I were you to get all the old stuff out.

Yea, that's the whole reason I got some ATF... so I could do part 1 of the 3x3 flush. And my service manual doesn't call for Honda Z1, it calls for Dexron II.
