Honda del Sol Keyless Entry?

Honda del Sol Keyless Entry?
Hello,
I'm looking at buying a 5-speed 1997 Honda Del Sol. The thing's in good condition, and has power locks. I was wondering, however, if I could install a keyless entry for it.
I'm not looking for a remote start, and I know Del Sol's never came with keyless entry, but I figure it must be possible (and not too difficult) to install one into a del Sol.
That said, I'm no mechanic. Is there a kit I can buy and install myself (even for someone who's never even changed his own oil), or should I ask a mechanic to install it? Also, what would anyone here recommend as a good kit?
Let me know if you have any input, thanks!

I would just take it to a stereo shop and see what they'd charge to install one. Unless you know your way around 12v systems, don't make this your first project.

Del Sols had keyless entry, and alarm, as a dealer-installable (Honda part) option. I don't think they were available seperately, mind you, I think if you wanted keyless entry - you had to get an alarm.
I opted for a Clifford alarm system in mine, dealer installed and everything. At this point, 10 years since production stopped, aftermarket is going to be a lot easier/cheaper to find than OEM.
You probably want to bring it to a shop and have them do it, since it does involve splicing a decent number of of wires. And you probably want to stay away from national chain stores, since they generally suck - e.g. Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

Do it yourself! It's really not hard at all if you use a descent kit.
At most you'll have ten wires to install. The wires you'll need are located in two places on the car, drivers kick and the main ignition harness. Your car will have an OEM alarm harness located in the drivers kick where you'll find the lock and unlock wires for the car. The lock and unlock wires are negative trigger which means you won't even need relays for the install! This job is soooo easy for the average DIYer.
If you do it and need any help at all, mail me at scoma699@hotmail.com

Anyone know how much it would cost to buy an aftermarket (and where to find one, for that matter) and what to expect for a professional install?
Thanks again!

I feel bad double-bumping, but...
Does anyone know where to buy a keyless entry kit for a Honda del Sol?
How much it would cost to get it professionally installed? What sort of place would be good to get it done at?
Thanks

Circuit City has the Valet 712T for $60 and installation is $50. The alarm is $40-$50 is street price so that's a pretty good deal if you dont want to do it yourself. I believe you get lifetime warranty from them if there ever is a problem later down the road so that's something to think about.

I have a 97 del sol Si and it has power everything, but the lack of keyless entry was a pain for me to get used to at first. I'm kinda over it now, but it would be pretty nice to have again. (I had a 98 ex before this) Let me know what you decide to do and how it works out for you.
