Del Sol Turbo Build
Hey guys,
New to the H-T, but have been a reader for a long time now. Anyhow, just wanted to share the progress of my Del Sol.
I picked it up on March 5, 2017 bonestock. I drove a good 5 hours to get her, but it was worth it. Besides a leaky slave cylinder and dried out windshield wipers, she was in decent shape.
I drove her like that for a couple of weeks, then ended up selling my 2009 R6. I delivered the bike to LA and made a detour on the way back and picked up a 36mm 5 lug conversion for $880! I think I overpaid considering the tires were mismatched, it was missing the driver side axle, and the trailing bushings were torn :/ After
Got an alignment done
Didn't like the look of the JDM Integra Type R wheels on the Del Sol, so I traded them for some Civic Type R's with nearly new Nitto Neo Gens!
Ah......much better
Then I picked up a few things to finish my turbo setup!
-RLD Fab AC ramhorn, tial wastegate and dumptube for $420 shipped
-Garrett gt3582r $400 shipped
-Greddy BOV
-850hp Sheepey intercooler(ended up trading for a 600hp Sheepy) $150
-Injector Dymanics 1000cc $300
-Walbro 450 $100
-Skunk2 Ultra Street with TB $350
-1320 Downpipe
-Used RS Machine 82mm B16 Eagle rods/CP 8.5:1(I know, I know but I couldn't pass up on the price) $500
-3 inch exhaust with vibrant muffler
Upon clocking the turbo, I realized that the turbine wheel on my garrett gt3582r was damaged
I immediately contacted the seller and he refunded half my money back which will go toward the CHRA exchange program from Garrett/ATP.
$200 later, I had myself an ebay gt35r!
After virtually no rest during my Springbreak, the setup was finally in, well Kinda
Towed the car over to ASP here in Fresno, CA. My tuner Thong has always done a great job on all my cars!
After running into some ignition issues, we called it a night around 4am.
Picked up a new distributor and wires and was back at it! Any guessimate on what it made on e85?
Took the car out for its first drive and it was ALL over the road! Time for some suspension!
I picked up and installed some Omni power coilovers. I ran into a problem trying to raise it back close to stock height. The spring was so stiff, I couldn't move up the perches anymore :/
Atleast the car shoots kinda straight now :D
Yesterday I installed an Si/EX front lip.

Re: Del Sol Turbo Build
A couple of days ago, I picked up a pair of used mickey thompson ET Streets 235-60-15 for $100. Any idea what model they are? I've been searching all over and haven't been able to figure it out! The tread pattern looks horrendous, but for $100, i figured they were worth a try......IF I can raise my car up

Re: Del Sol Turbo Build
Trying to keep it clean without going overboard is the goal. Sticking with OEM parts where ever I can. And I drive it occasionally to work and on weekends. I took her on her first out of town trip(320 miles round-trip) and averaged 20mpg which i guess is normal. She did amazing.
I also picked up some new wheels, can anyone guess what they are? I'll post up photos later :D

Re: Del Sol Turbo Build
The car is a 1994 and the Vibrant is nice. I also have a rather large resonator in the midpipe so that helps with the sound. It's not high pitched nor low. I'll see if I have time to do some flybys or incar videos this weekend. So far though, I like it. I took my car on a 300mile round trip this past weekend and the walbro 450 was more annoying than the exhaust. lol

Re: Del Sol Turbo Build
Lol. Thanks for participating anyway. I tuned with an open downpipe and have since added a full 3 inch. The car doesn't quite feel the same (or maybe I'm just getting used to the power), but I'm gonna be bringing her in for a retune soon. And I'll post up some before and after graphs on a comparison between an open downpipe and full 3 inch for whoever may be curious.

Re: Del Sol Turbo Build
Took the car out to an event last weekend. Didn't hit my goal of going 10s due to having to run a 22" slick as opposed to a 24.5". 60' times wouldn't go any lower than 1.9. Here's the video
