Honda Civic Sedan Air Conditioner is acting weird
My air conditioner compressor engages and disengages with in a few seconds. It does this for a while and then will engage and run correctly. Is this a sign of low coolant? or is the compressor going out?
I bought the car used. It is a 1994. When I first received the car this week. WHen the car was first started and running the air worked fine for about 10 minutes. then it would blow warm air. I figured out that the compressor was not engaging like it should. I had a guy add some coolant. I dont know if he knew what he was doing. he added it, until the belt started to slip. then let some out. he said it was building head pressure. I thought you had to use gauges to put coolant in the system.
Anyone have any input on what to do ?
I am an hour away from any good shops, and have some mechanic skills.
thanks
