Honda civic rust prevention
Now that winter is starting to roll in, I have started prepping my civic for winter. This will be the first winter that I will be driving my civic.
My car currently has no rust besides a small spot on the door, which I am working on fixing at the moment. I want to keep my car rust free, especially in the rear quarter panels, which is a huge problem for honda's in the midwest.
I was thinking of doing a DIY on rust prevention for the back quarter panels, since there isn't any that I could find.
So far my plan is:
Clean rear quarters with soap and water to remove dirt.
Sand down past factory undercoating
Spray a couple coats of undercoat
Soak a rag in oil, and wipe it on the undercoat to further prevent rust
Anyone have any feedback for this? I haven't done this before, but I thought it would be something everyone could benefit from.
(I am a college student with a slim budget, so buying a winter beater and storing my car for the winter is not an option.)
