Default Honda Civic LX 98 Exhaust/Idle Question

I have a honda civic lx 98 and when im on idle my car exhaust blows alot of gas like its being forced out unlike other hondas i compare with.
Is this normal?Or is it running to rich because in california it wont pass smog if its running rich!

Mods:
Intake But took it off due to sucky Gas Mileage
And Tune Up Spark/Wire ETC....
Gas Type-87

Do you smell a rich exhaust even after the engine is warmed up? Does the engine take an abnormally long time to warm up? Is the ignition timing set to spec?

Does the exhaust stop smelling rich after the engine warms up?

Sorry i was typing through my iphone while driving but let me clear things up!

1 Even if the car is fully warmed up gas would still be like its getting forced out of the exhaust and would still smell the same like warm water instead of gas or rich if you call it (but not sure since i dont know what rich should be like)

2 I don't know if this has to do with anything with this topic but let me point it out (might have to do with something) when im driving and when my car tries to shift it would rev up really really high like 4-5k RPM(Automatic tranny) sounds like its having a hard time.
