Default Honda civic keys(96-00)

Are 6th gen Honda civic keys interchangeable with any other make or model? for instance can I use a 92-96 oem Honda prelude key on a 6th gen Honda civic?

Why do you want to have a different key? Its either in your pocket or stuck 90% of the way ib your ignition, no one will ever see it

If keys were interchangeable then thieves wouldn't need to break into anyone's car. They could just unlock it and drive away.

I believe vehicles made between 88-00 are all the same blanks before the larger keys were applied to all Honda/Acura models.

This is what I got from Homedepot to make like 4 copies of my key for my 99 Civic. #27r

Here's the larger key I mentioned above.

So for example: 97-01 CRV, 94-01 Integra 97-01 Prelude, 1998-2004 Odyssey. Their complete generation still retain the old style keys until the newer models were made, but the large blanks were already being applied.

large Blank:

I could be wrong, just basing the info off personal experience .

Essentially, Honda/Acura blanks are the same depending on the generation.

I hope it is made out of quality materials so it doesn't break off in the ignition.

UPDATE: I got the key. took almost 2 weeks to get to me. But the key looks exactly like the pic, flawless. I know they offer different color options and I can only speak for the one I got. I swear they shipped me the key that was used as the display pic. It was also packaged as if I was receiving a newborn baby at john Hopkins hospital. Ill let the pics speak for themselves. In the pic I couldn't tell if the plastic was grippy or "slick" for lack of a better word but once I felt it in my hand its in between and I love it. I will post pics as soon as im not lazy. Don't expect great pics cuz Im using a pre-historic phone atm until I get my smartphone fixed and I haven't got the key cut yet, im thinking bout just using it to open and close my doors for awhile and see how It holds up.

I got both L and R lock cylinder set with two keys from Thailand. They ended up being of decent quality. They were the only matching set I could find new, and I thought it was risky but ended up as a reward.
