the alternator is fine and the batt is fine. It wants to start, it starts up then quickly dies. after a few tries the the cars starts and i can drive for as long as i want.

if you can, check your fuel pressure after the fuel filter.
if you don't have access to that, try spraying some starting fluid into the intake manifold when the car won't start, and see if that helps some.
in case you haven't figured it out, my guess is a fuel delivery problem
