Default honda civic eg im thinking about buying

friend of mine bought his sister's DX eg6 for 1500, engine blew one day and swapped the engine at a shop with a jdm d15b, hasnt been bar'd yet, and it has 193733 miles on chassis, clean title, he doesnt know how many miles the jdm motor has, but he had the engine on the car for less than 6 months and driven the car with the new motor under 1k miles. the car has a ebay short shifter, custom wierd interior, ugly kragen muffler, front/rear lip, a cf spoon duck bill, aem intake, and si rims. he asking for $2000, is it worth to invest? ( i live in california and they have a thing about swapping motors and non carb parts)

well. I don't live in california, but if that deal was here, I would jump on it. but the motor does scare me. I mean, check into that about miles, does it idle rough or anything.

but the d15b is a honda motor and a good motor. Its not the best performance motor, compared to a z6 in my opinion.

yeah, cant believe he forgot to ask the mechanic how many miles the motor had.... he thought he bought a d16z6, and after i saw the car with the new engine i was like ..... is a jdm d15b.. i dunno if he has the right ecu for his car because last time he told me he was still running a d15b7 ecu on it temporay and i think he added a d16z6 ecu or something in there now. how can i tell if its the right ecu?

make sure its ready to be BAR'd if you buy it you'll have to register it and smog it...and you'll need to BAR it 1st b4 you can smog it... also he has it priced right above Low kelly blue book...id offer him $1800 for it...make sure the motor is the same year as the car or newer or you'll BAR

Everyone I hear from Cali says JDM motors can't be bar'd...? I'd pass that up for a USDM motor.
