Default Honda civic del sol

Hi I got A question if somebody can please help me out with? I got A 95 Honda civic del sol d series sohc. I dont race it, its slow as hell lol. My engine is making a light clicking sound my friends say i might of shot a rod? How would i know if i shot a rod? I mean everytime i drive it sounds like iam dragging cans a lil bit anybody know what it might be or how much it might cost to fix. Thanks in advance! Oh real quick my friend says rev it up it really starts doing that noise a lil louder for some particular reason around 2-3 rpms after higher its not as loud.

wheres it coming from top or bottom of the motor? if top could just be your lifter's clicking which can be adjusted...whens the last time you changed your oil?

Please change your oil first as you suggested and examine the oil for shavings ect.

Totally unrelated from the oil issue but *personally*, it may be possible that you have a loose catalytic converter shield. Mine is loose and makes noise from slightly above idle to 3500k or so and then nothing. Hopefully, thats the clattering sound you're referring to.

Yeah, i'd definately change the oil and check it for shavings, if there are shavings in it then you spun a bearing.. which will have the rod knocking ...

You can take the end of a jack handle and put it up to the motor(on the head and on the block) and put your ear on the handle.... we did this with my buddy's h22 before he got rid of it, it was also his lifters..
