I've recently repaired the headgasket and changed the radiator due to quick warming, that problem was done. But when I recieved the car, it suddenly started to choke while I was driving it and its check engine appeared. I brought it back to the mechanic and he said that he had adjusted a bit the ignition because it was "loose". The thing is that it stopped to do that. But just today I was running the car and it suddenly started to stall or choke while driving. I released the gas pedal and it stops. But I press it again and it does it, randomly. I was guessing it might have to to with the ignition. What can it actually be?

PS: there is no check engine turned on as for now.

Vehicle info? Maintenance history? Did it do this prior to HG and radiator replacement? If not chances are mechanical timing is off and he tried to correct it with distributor rotation instead of ripping back into the engine to fix.
